Yes, students are eligible for associate membership. Once the student receives relevant credentials and professional experience, they may be considered for Ordinary membership.
Q: How do I renew my membership?
You can renew your membership through our website. Simply log in and select renew membership and you will be led to pay the renewal fees.
Q: Can I cancel my membership at any time?
Yes, you can cancel your membership but membership fees will not be refunded.
Q: What is the criteria to be a member?
Ordinary
Persons admitted as Ordinary members shall be occupied wholly or mainly in the practice of clinical biochemistry within the Republic of Singapore. They may continue their membership after retirement from active professional life. They must be university graduates in science or medicine. For science graduates, they must possess at least an honours degree in biochemistry or related field and should have at least two years postgraduate working experience in a recognised clinical biochemistry laboratory. For medical graduates, they should have at least two years postgraduate working experience in a recognised clinical biochemistry laboratory.
A university graduate without an honours degree may be admitted as an Ordinary member after four years postgraduate working experience in a recognised clinical biochemistry laboratory. A polytechnic diploma holder may be admitted as an Ordinary member after seven years postgraduate working experience in a recognised clinical biochemistry laboratory.
Associate
Associate membership applies to those who whilst having the necessary academic qualifications, cannot be admitted to ordinary membership by reason of insufficient working experience in clinical biochemistry. On attainment of the required period of experience as stipulated for Ordinary membership, they may be considered by Council for admission to full Ordinary membership.
Life
An Ordinary member who is active and in good standing with at least five years membership can become a Life member. They will make a one-off subscription payment, shall have full voting powers, and be eligible for membership of the Council. A Life member can choose not to continue his/her life membership by informing SACB. There will be no refund of Life membership fees.
Corporate
Corporate members may be admitted from organisations that manufacture products or offer services for the field of clinical biochemistry.
